The island of Key West was
first discovered in 1513 by
European explorer Ponce de
Leon. It was originally
called “Cayo Hueso”, meaning
Isle of Bones, for it was
covered with remnants
from an Indian battlefield
or burial
ground. Eventually, the
community’s name
translated from Spanish to
English, thus giving “Key
West” its title.
Key West, located at the
southernmost tip of the
continental United States,
offers a sultry combination
of picturesque waters,
exotic plant life, exquisite
eateries, five-star
accommodations, and great
historical sites. Since
Key West real estate only
encompasses a few square
miles, the island sustains a
rural, yet sophisticated

thinking about moving to
Paradise? The first thing
you need to know is that
"paradise" doesn't come
cheap. The cost of living
here is high and often
salaries are lower than the
rest of the country.

it for the short-term, or
just want to try it out for
a season or two, renting may

often a nice alternative to
staying in a hotel or
resort. Availability will
depend on the area and your
